Daily Internet Usage by Age Cohort (160 words)
The table illustrates daily internet adoption among four different age groups in 2005, 2015, and 2025.
Overall, daily internet use followed an upward trajectory across all demographics over the twenty-year period. While the youngest cohort consistently recorded the highest figures, the elderly group experienced the most rapid expansion, significantly narrowing the generational gap by 2025.
In 2005, the 16–24 age bracket remained the dominant group, with 88% using the web daily. This figure rose steadily to 96% in 2015 and finished at 99% in 2025. Similarly, among individuals aged 25–44, daily usage grew from 70% to 90%, before it stood at nearly full coverage (98%) by 2025.
Substantial growth also occurred among older cohorts. Daily activity among 45-to-64-year-olds rose from 40% to 72% in 2015, ending at 92%. Meanwhile, seniors aged 65 and over started from the lowest base of 10% in 2005. However, this figure more than tripled to reach 38% in 2015, before climbing to 72% in 2025.
Why this works: 7 High-Impact Phrases
Study how each highlighted phrase solves a specific reporting challenge in the model answer.
"illustrates daily internet adoption"
Replaces the generic prompt wording "the table shows the percentage of people who used the internet every day" smoothly without changing the topic meaning.
"upward trajectory across all demographics"
Summarises that every age bracket increased over time in one neat clause, preventing you from writing repetitive statements like "group A went up, and group B also went up".
"narrowing the generational gap"
Identifies the big-picture trend: the gap between 16–24s and 65+ narrowed from 78 percentage points (88% vs 10%) down to 27 points (99% vs 72%).
"remained the dominant group"
Accurately describes how the 16–24 cohort stayed ahead of every other category across the entire timeframe without having to state "was the highest" multiple times.
"stood at nearly"
Pairs the reporting verb "stood at" with an approximation adverb to report 98% naturally without claiming 100% saturation.
"started from the lowest base"
Highlights that seniors had the lowest starting point in 2005 (10%), which sets up the dramatic relative climb that follows.
"more than tripled to reach"
Mathematically verified: from 10% in 2005 to 38% in 2015 is greater than a three-fold rise (10% × 3 = 30%, and 38% > 30%). Never write "tripled" unless the figure is exactly 3x; always add "more than" or "nearly" for complete factual precision.
