Growing Up in Another Country
Paragraph 1 · Introduction
In this essay I will discuss why moving abroad for a few years is a great experience for young people. When someone travels to a new place as a newcomer, they often wonder about their future, don't they?
Why this works: We use the question tag "don't they?" after the positive verb "wonder" to check an idea and draw the reader in.
I strongly believe that living far from home helps young people grow up.
Paragraph 2 · First Reason
One reason is that young people learn how to take care of everyday responsibilities. For example, when you rent a flat, you must speak politely to your landlord and pay your bills on time. Many students want to become more independent, and so do I.
Why this works: We use "and so do I" to show that we share the same positive desire with other young people.
Through this practical routine, a teenager quickly learns good manners and self-reliance.
Paragraph 3 · Second Reason
Another reason is that living overseas helps people understand diverse cultures. At first, a foreigner may feel isolated or miss their homeland deeply. However, curious students soon adapt to local habits and discover welcoming neighbors who invite them for tea. Living in a strange country is not always easy, is it?
Why this works: We use the question tag "is it?" after the negative phrase "is not always easy" to invite the reader to agree with a tough reality.
Yet getting through these hard moments makes you stronger.
Paragraph 4 · Conclusion
In conclusion, living in a foreign country helps young people grow into independent adults. Some people do not like feeling homesick at first, and neither do I.
Why this works: We use "and neither do I" to agree with a negative statement ("do not like") in a clear and natural way.
However, dealing with these everyday problems teaches you a lot.
