Module 3: Model Answer
Look at a good example to help you learn.
Model Message (75 Words)
I want to have a day out at the lake with you this Sunday. If it is sunny, we will ride our bicycles and play outdoors all afternoon. But if it rains, I will ask you to come to my house. We will stay at home unless the heavy rain stops early. When I get home, I will drink hot tea and watch a movie. What will you do if you are free on Sunday?
Why This Works: Helpful Phrase Notes
Read these short notes to understand how to use the bold phrases in your own writing:
"If it is sunny, we will..."
Note: Use if + present (is) to talk about a good weather plan in the future.
"If it rains, I will..."
Note: Use this pattern to explain your backup plan if bad weather happens.
"...unless the heavy rain stops"
Note: Unless means "if... not" (we will stay home if the rain does not stop).
"When I get home, I will..."
Note: Use when for an action that you are sure will happen after your trip ends.
"What will you do if...?"
Note: End your message with an if question to invite your friend to answer.
