Model Answer

71 words Using Frame Starters

Last weekend we were camping near the lake with my family. I was cooking soup on the stove when a deer walked past our campsite. While we were watching quietly, the deer drank some water and ran away into the trees. Everyone was surprised and very happy. It was an exciting night under the stars. Next time we will bring a bigger flashlight so we can see the forest wildlife better.

Notice how every sentence starter connects naturally to the next part of the story.

Useful Phrases and Notes

Here are five phrases from the model answer that you can use in your own writing:

1 camping near the lake

Tells your friend where you were in a simple, clear way.

2 walked past our campsite

Tells a quick action that happened suddenly while you were busy.

3 While we were watching quietly

Links two actions that took place at the same time.

4 surprised and very happy

Uses everyday feeling words to show how everyone reacted.

5 under the stars

A friendly, natural expression for sleeping or staying outside at night.

💡

Why this works: A helpful sentence pattern

Example Sentence

"We were sitting by the campfire when a ranger walked into the campsite."

First part: Long action

We were sitting: This action was happening for some time in the background.

Second part: Short surprise

a ranger walked in: A quick action that happened in the middle of the long action.

📌 Tip for your message: You can use this pattern with any outdoor action, such as "I was cooking dinner when..." or "We were setting up the tent when...".
