parkrun: Free Saturday Fun for Everyone!

A cheerful group of diverse people running and jogging together in a sunny green public park on a Saturday morning, brig

Community runners starting their weekend together.

parkrun is a free, timed run of 5 km. Free means that people do not pay money to take part. A timed run means that a clock shows how long each person takes. Every parkrun is an event. Today, parkruns take place on Saturday mornings in many countries around the world.

The story began in 2004 in Bushy Park, in London. At the first event, there were only 13 runners. That is not many people! Today, volunteers run every event. A volunteer is a person who helps without getting money.

💡 Quick Fact: parkrun is free, and volunteers run every event.
