Grammar Blueprint

The 4 Golden Rules of Superstitions

Notice how verb tense reflects reality: real everyday folklore uses Present Simple, while imaginary luck relies on Past Simple + would.

# Rule Category Standard Sentence
01 Zero conditional Habitual belief / folklore "If you carry a lucky coin, you feel calmer."
02 Second conditional Hypothetical / imaginary "If I owned a lucky charm, I would wear it every day."
03 Error watch No 'would' in the if-clause "If she were more careful, she would worry less."
04 Word order No comma when 'if' is midway "I would feel silly if I carried a charm everywhere."
⚠️
Crucial rule: Never place would inside the conditional if-clause itself! Say "If she were more careful...", never "If she would be more careful...".
