Grading Criteria:

Word Count: 255 words (Target: 250–280 words)Study this student essay to see how target vocabulary, cohesive linkers, and contrast patterns work together naturally.
In this essay I will discuss both viewpoints regarding whether cultural celebrations should remain strictly unaltered or adapt to contemporary lifestyles. Across the globe, traditional practices connect local communities to their ancestral roots. At the same time, modern societies change rapidly, leading many citizens to wonder whether ancient festivals should also evolve to match modern tastes.
Some people believe that traditional festivals should be preserved without any external changes. They argue that ancient rituals and sacred ceremonies commemorate historic milestones, carrying deep values that could disappear if commercialized. For instance, elderly residents often believe that maintaining every authentic detail honors the ancestors who established these annual gatherings. In addition, when local families participate together in an unchanged street procession, they experience living history that strengthens their shared cultural heritage and social cohesion.
However, others argue that bringing in modern customs helps celebrations stay meaningful for younger generations.
Although older citizens often cherish solemn rituals, younger people usually prefer energetic music and dynamic visual spectacles.
Without fresh elements, younger generations might completely abandon community gatherings in favor of digital entertainment. Furthermore,
despite understandable fears about losing authenticity, creative innovations can actually attract thousands of enthusiastic visitors to historic town squares.
As a result, welcoming new artistic expressions prevents valuable customs from slowly dying out.
In conclusion,
whereas strict preservation protects our cultural heritage, embracing thoughtful innovations ensures vibrant community participation.
In my view, communities do not need to choose between these two approaches. Instead, organizers should preserve the authentic core of every sacred ceremony while updating external entertainment to inspire future generations.
