Module 3: Model Answer

Read this example text.

🌟 Example Story
Word count: 43 words
"My mother is a nurse in a city clinic. My uncle isn't a baker; he fixes cars. My cousins aren't cleaners; they are good builders. Is your brother a pilot? I am not a sailor, but I like big boats a lot."
💡

Why this works

1 is a nurse

Use is a for one person and their job.

Example: My mother is a nurse.

2 isn't a baker

Use isn't a when one person does not do that job.

Example: My uncle isn't a farmer.

3 aren't cleaners

Use aren't for two or more people. Do not say "a".

Example: My cousins aren't cleaners.

4 Is your brother a pilot?

Put Is first to ask a question about one person.

Example: Remember to use a question mark (?) at the end.

5 I am not a sailor

Use I am not a to talk about yourself and a job you do not do.

Example: I am not a painter.
